The Center for the Study of Children’s Literature at Simmons University is honored to host the exhibit “Make Way for Dumplings: 20 Years of the Art of Grace Lin” as part of the 2019 Summer Institute, Make Way. A range of Lin’s work from her distinguished career as a children’s book author and illustrator will be on exhibit in the Trustman Art Gallery, 300 The Fenway, Boston, MA for the month of July 2019, with a public gallery opening event on Tuesday, July 2, 2019 from 5:00-6:30 pm.

The Gallery will be open to the public Mondays-Fridays 10:00-4:00 from Monday July 1- Friday, July 26, 2019.

A hallmark of the Center for the Study of Children’s Literature is the Summer Institute held every other year. The intensive, long-weekend program offers participants an opportunity to meet with authors, illustrators, editors, and others committed to the study of children’s literature. In addition to the signature artist, Grace Lin, this year’s Institute features Elisha Cooper, Emily Feinberg, Eric Gansworth, Jarrett J. Krosoczka, Alvina Ling, Jessica Love, Martha V. Parravano, Elizabeth Partridge, Mitali Perkins, Jewel Parker Rhodes, Vicky Smith, Duncan Tonatiuh, Eric L. Tribunella, Carole Boston Weatherford, and Padma Venkatraman. Anita Silvey will be in conversation with author Linda Sue Park for the Sweetser Lecture.
