Golden Equinox

IMAGINE (AKA Sneha Shrestha)

March 25 - April 17

Opening Reception:
Thursday, March 27, 5-7 p.m.

Simmons University presents Golden Equinox featuring work by IMAGINE (aka Sneha Shrestha). Originally from Nepal, Shrestha draws inspiration from her native language meshing the aesthetics of Sanskrit scriptures with street art and graffiti. In addition to exhibiting paintings and drawings, Shrestha will create a site-specific mural for the Trustman Gallery.

Golden Equinox will be on view from March 25 – April 17 in the Trustman Art Gallery, located on the fourth floor of the Main College Building, 300 The Fenway in Boston. Closed April 15.

Join us in the Gallery for an opening reception on Wednesday, March 27, from 5 – 7pm.

As the first artist to mesh Nepali alphabets with American graffiti, Shrestha has shown her work in several exhibitions, created commissioned works and painted public walls around the world from Boston, Kathmandu and Bali to Istanbul, Phnom Penh and Geneva.

Shrestha is an artist, educator and social entrepreneur. She has worked at Artists for Humanity in Boston and established Nepal’s first Children’s Art Museum to provide a creative space where children and youth can develop 21st century skills through project-based art experiences.

She graduated from the Harvard Graduate School of Education with a Master’s degree in Education. During her time at Harvard, Shrestha explored effective leadership in education and the intersections of creativity, technology and learning. Currently, she is the Boston Artist in Residence and also works as the Arts Manager designing the Visiting Artist Program at the Harvard South Asia Institute.
