Opening Reception:
Thursday, November 15, 5-7 p.m.
Simmons University presents drawings and prints by artist Nancy L. Greco. Recurrence will be on view from November 14-December 17 in the Trustman Art Gallery, located on the fourth floor of the Main College Building, 300 The Fenway in Boston.
Join us in the Gallery for an opening reception on Thursday, November 15, from 5 – 7 pm. The Gallery is closed November 21-23.
Recurrence traces the appearance and transformation of symbolic imagery through nearly five decades of Greco’s prints and drawings. Sometimes surreal, always expertly rendered, Greco’s work explores the concept of messengers that trigger memories and connections. These messengers, finding forms as diverse as hummingbirds, constellations and clouds, guide the viewer through recollections of the past and are present to shepherd us into the future.
Greco’s work has been widely exhibited in art museums and galleries throughout the Northeast including the Martin Sumers Gallery in New York, the New Britain Museum of American Art, the Underground Gallery in Collinsville, CT and many others. She has received significant awards and grants including a Ford Foundation Grant, First Award in the Pratt Graphics 6th International Miniature Print Exhibition in New York City and an individual artist grant from the Artist’s Resource Trust of the Berkshire Taconic Community Foundation, among others. Greco currently lives and makes art in Collinsville, Connecticut.
Trustman Art Gallery hours are 10 AM – 4:30 PM, Monday, Tuesday, Friday, and 10 AM – 7 PM on Wednesday and Thursday. The Gallery is free, open to the public and wheelchair accessible.
